Sharkey and I were talking about Suz, at first, and I got into my reading of Ryan, and, well, for your comments:
Madb: I mean...Suzi is not totally useless. In her areas of expertise she's frighteningly capable, see how she's handling Ryan and Wesker. I just...trimmed off the things she doesn't need.
Sharkey: . . . how is she handling Wesker?
Madb: Every time she talks to him, even when she pushed too hard, she's reinforcing "I like you". She's testing his limits of physicality, but not pushing them. She's being present, and trying to avoid being invasive. She's offering help, and often doing it in such a way that it's presented as being for her own good (she could deal if he never let her balance his field, but isn't it nice for him when he doesn't have to deal with the bad emotion things?), etc.
Sharkey: Wesker's going "-.-."
Madb: Like I said, she's frighteningly competent at what she does, because that's what her life has depended on. Because, Wesker-honey, you've got nothing on a Junct in disJunction crisis. Suzi's had multiple bones broken by people who had asked for her help.
Sharkey: And with Ryan's it's "I have faith in you?"
Madb: And "I love you" and "I need you". Richard Ryan needs to be needed. For a gray-hat, he's got a white-hat's mentality...he's a protector, and part of why he went nuts is he got told the thing (England) that he had devoted himself to didn't care about his sacrifice. Suzi, in a very real way, stepped in and said "No, I need you. You're not useless, I need you."
Madb: Teaching Wesker (told you I love this kind of conversation) isn't just about helping Wesker, it also fills Ryan's need to be needed...even if Wesker doesn't need what he's being taught!
Sharkey: I do like the way you and AWOL Moonlup have sort of given him depths I don't get at first.
Madb: I, like, totally haven't talked this over with Moon, honestly. *wry* This is just my reading of it.
ooc: and posting here so as not to break the mood over there, or make you keep rechecking e-mails. Something I wondered in general: I thought Milliways wolves' full moons were for three nights, and this started on the 30th? So wouldn't this be the second of the three, or am I just full of WRONG(it happens.)
Dog Soldiers' wolves (and I think Buffyverse wolves in general) shift for three days: the day of the full moon (30th), the day before, and the day after. The reason only one day is marked on the calender is because that's the only day where the moon is full all night. The day before, the moon isn't full until later, and vice versa for the day after.
