She smelled of many things, this intruder. Of blood and pain, of smoke and flame, and then of ash and strength...but she paid no heed to the growl. She just straightened from where she'd been leaning against a tree and met his gaze. She was no werewolf, and he was a great deal taller than her, but that didn't seem to bother her in the least.
